WLRN Learn is a local, non-commercial, cable channel managed and programmed as a public service of WLRN Public Radio & Television and Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS). The channel is carried by all cable providers in Miami-Dade County and is located on Channel 79 on most cable systems.
An integral part of WLRN's mission is to serve the educational and cultural needs of South Florida's diverse population. WLRN Learns program schedule is an eclectic mix of content that appeals to a broad range of cultural backgrounds, age groups and social interests.
"While Miami-Dade is one community, it's
also a community of many different cultures and voices," said
John LaBonia, General Manager of WLRN Public Radio
and Television.
Many of our viewers
are loyal PBS how-to program followers who enjoy exercising
on a regular basis and watching intelligent talk shows
like Charlie Rose. For our younger viewers, the WLRN
Learn schedule includes a daily line-up of award-winning
PBS Kids programs in Spanish.
Viewer feedback also tells us that many South Florida residents rely on WLRN to provide international news as a way to stay in touch with their "home" countries. Le Journal and World Focus are two news programs that are mainstays on the Learn schedule.
In addition, WLRN Learn also offers diverse, relevant international content from MHz Worldview, a national, independent, non-commercial TV channel presenting fresh, relevant English-language international content including news, documentaries, cultural programming, dramas, films & mysteries, music and sports.
Known for its Programming for Globally-Minded People, MHz Worldview serves as a liaison in bringing programs and understanding from around the world to American audiences. Visit MHz Worldview at www.mhznetworks.org/mhzworldview.
MHz Worldview can be
seen on the following WLRN Learn Channels from 10pm
to 6:30am.
